Hey Joe, Where Are You Going With That Tyrant Gun In Your Hand
Hey Joe, progressives do not understand it. Let me try an explanation using a boomer imagery from the world famous Hey Joe song by one of our own, Jimmie Hendrix.
Background
The song starts out:
Hey Joe, where you goin’ with that gun of your hand?
Hey Joe, I said, where you goin’ with that gun in your hand? Oh
I’m goin’ down to shoot my old lady
You know I caught her messin’ ‘round with another man, yeah
I’m goin’ down to shoot my old lady
You know I caught her messin’ ‘round with another man
Huh, and that ain’t too cool
But, it was never about the subject of murdering one’s own wife in the first place. It was about a distinct trend in the 1960s and 1970s where the urban landscape was being destroyed by factories starting to close due to out-sourcing to other countries. We see places like Newark, Chicago, LA, etc. consumed by race riots due to that lost set of job opportunities and voting opportunities.
If you go further down into the song lrycis:
Well, dig
I’m goin’ way down south
