It’s not fun battling ADHD, is it? I have been on a quest to find a way to control ADHD while leaning into the neat things such as obsessive focus that us ADHDer’s have. Let me tell about what I found.

What’s Wrong With Adderall

What’s wrong with Adderall? Adderall is a mixture of Amphetamine and Dextroamphetamine and a class II drug, which is the same class that Cocaine is in. Take that with a grain of salt because THC is listed as a class I drug and clearly THC is less addictive than Adderall.

Adderall is addictive as it’s interacting with Dopamine and Norepinephrine transporters. What produces addiction is the interaction with transporters to compete with the target neurotransmitter, as that short-cuts how neurons down-regulate over-stimulation.

The reason why it’s effective for things like ADHD treatments is that our neurons are too effective in transporting dopamine out of the cleft-space between neurons, thus dopamine does not stay in the space between neurons long enough to reset our executive function machinery.

So I was wondering why not use the body sub-systems to increase the analog to dopamine. Or to put it another way, Adderall modifies tonic transmission by blocking re-uptake, but blocking re-uptake is not the only way to increase…
